On-Site + Live Drawing
Drawing at museums is my favourite. These images were created during on-site drawing trips, including professional engagements at the Royal Ontario Museum. On-site illustration events create unique visitor experiences and result in finished illustrations for social sharing or publication.
#SciArtSeptember | Year 3
Happily, the project continues: 30 prompt words for science artists to explore over the month of September + share online. Reaching out and inviting others through the shifting landscape of social media (where I remain @LizLagomorph), friends carry the word farther. I feel grateful for our small community's work and fellowship. Selected personal works from Year 3 are below. Keep scrolling for previous years’ images + descriptions.
#SciArtSeptember | Year 2
In 2022, Glendon Mellow (@FlyingTrilobite) and I (@LizLagomorph) continued our project to build online community between science artists. Like last year, we wrote and shared a month-long list of prompts on Twitter and Instagram. Keeping multiple disciplines in mind, the prompts were more interpretive than direct (words like monstrous, aflame, and hoax). A selection of personal work, below.
#SciArtSeptember | Year 1
Social distancing led to building community in new ways. Glendon Mellow and I created and hosted the #SciArtSeptember hashtag on Twitter and Instagram to give science illustrators a way to connect to each other + their audiences. Below: Personal work I created during the event.
Spot Illustrations
Colourful creatures bring life to all types of projects. Commission your own work for stationary, home products, or publications. Hand-drawn aesthetics are playful while maintaining accuracy.
#SundayFishSketch
Hosted by marine scientist Rene P. Martin (@Lampichthys), #SundayFishSketch is a weekly Twitter event open to artists from all backgrounds, of all abilities. An outlet for ocean wonderment.
Puzzles + Multimedia Narratives
Experiments in storytelling using ciphers, objects, and epistolary elements. The narratives explore themes of secrets, mythology, and identity. Click images for more details.
Mail Art Exchanges
I'm always interested in mail art exchange with other artists - hoping to find a way to connect over distance. The work below was packed up in envelopes and mailed off in the post. Would you like to exchange letters? Let me know through the contact page! Click images for more details.
